seal box/seal box lid

Details

Description
Part of Cu alloy seal box lid with a leaf design in a raised decoration but with all traces of enamel missing. Another fragment of the same seal box from AJS was lost. Seal boxes are common finds on Roman sites. There are many parallels for this box, e.g. from Uleyshrine (Woodward & LEach 1993, 209 fig. 156) and Verulamium (Frere 1984, fig. 13 no. 101).
