Description
Flint Hand axe (in good quality mid-gray coloured flint) with heavy greyish-white patination. Ventral side more carefully worked than convex (dorsal) side. Shape overall is pointed rather than sub-cordate. Axe roughly worked through removal of a number of broad flakes, the scars for which extend downwards and outwards from the central ridge on both sides. The butt is rounded. Part of the cortex survives. Axe has slightly convex sides tapering to a (now missing) point. Several recent breaks, and the ridges between flake scars are heavily abraded in places.
