Description
Line block reproduction of a drawing by Frederick Kitton, showing the old Holywell House which once stood at the bottom of Holywell Hill, St Albans.
Holywell House was one of the residences of John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough (1650- 1722) and his wife Sarah, neƩ Jennings (1660- 1744). It was demolished in 1837. Since this was before Kitton's birth, this drawing was presumably done from an earlier print, such as 1994.303.
