Description
"Viaduct at Watford" by Thomas Talbot Bury (1811-77); hand-coloured aquatint by J Harris. Published September 18th 1837 by Ackermann & Co., 96 Strand.
The embankments and viaduct carry the railway over the River Colne. The huge arches dwarf the stage coach which passes beneath at full speed (12 or 14 miles per hour). Very soon the coach will go out of business.
