Back cover of part 10 (number 8) of Holmes Winters' series of etchings "The Last of Old St Albans".
Drawn and etched by Holmes Winter.
Text reads: " "Last of Old St Alban." This is the last part. and I beg to thank my patrons for their kindly patience in waiting so long for its completion, - after the issue of the 5th part, it was delayed for a time until more subscribers were added to the list. There are seven copies remaining for sale, which can be supplied to subscribers in ten monthly parts at 10/- each, or the complete work sent carefully packed for £5. This work has been strictly limited to 25 copies and all plates destroyed. I wish to mention that none of these etchings have appeared in any other publication, and no reprints will be made of them.
Will shortly be published: Two hundred entchings on stone and copper, from sketches made, 1881 to 1905, of ancient Domestic and Ecclesiastical architecture and old street scenes of "Grand Old Hertfordshire". This work is now well advanced and will be issued (without delay) as soon as I recieve the names of ten subscribers. This work will be issued in ten (10) parts. Price one guinea each part, containgin twenty (20) proof etchings printed on drawing paper and strictly limited to twenty five (25) impressions, and the plates at once destroyed.
