Fletcher was a prolific London painter and etcher who exhibited widely from 1906- 1938. His work was most familiar in the form of illustrations in the Sunday Times, the Daily Telegraph and the Manchester Guardian. During the period 1913 and 1917 he sketched numerous views of St Albans.
