A busy day in Market Place, 1882/3, with a fruit and veg stall in front of the Clock Tower. The shop sign on the Clock Tower reads, "J Walklate Saddler and Harness Maker"
James Walklate was the tenant at the Clock Tower from 1873 until he died in 1889 when his widow, Mary, took over the running of the business until she went bankrupt in 1898.
